Q1: Give us a General Overview of Your Outdoor Design.

We are located in Lake Tapps, Washington, USA and our swim spa journey began in 2019 when we decided to elevate our outdoor living experience. By February 2020, our dream took shape as we welcomed our swim spa. It's the heart of our daily routine, serving as the perfect backdrop for swimming, aquatic therapy, and having fun with our grandchildren. Initially we were contemplating an in-ground swimming pool, we sought professional advice, and turned us on to a swim spa. The decision has been nothing short of transformative, and we haven't looked back since.

Q2: How Did You Choose Your Swim Spa Model and Manufacturer?

In our pursuit of the right swim spa, we conducted thorough research. This involved visiting the local fair to view different brands and models while also combing through online reviews and resources. After weighing the options, we decided on PDC Spas. We chose the Synergy FX19 model because we believed that its larger size was more akin to a swimming pool, which aligned perfectly with our preference for a roomy experience. We made our purchase through a local PDC Spas retailer. Our advice to people who are considering a swimming pool is straightforward: opt for a swim spa. You'll discover it offers much more versatility, whether you seek relaxation or an intense workout. Unless you have the space for a lap pool, a swim spa is the way to go.

Q3: How Did You Design Your Outdoor Space and Swim Spa Set-Up?

Designing our outdoor space and swim spa set-up was a task we approached with both practicality and aesthetics in mind. Being fortunate enough to reside by a picturesque lake, selecting the location was a no-brainer. We aimed for proximity to the house for convenient access, all while capitalizing on the breathtaking view of the lake and the majestic Mount Rainier.

Our vision for the area around the swim spa was clear—we wanted it to exude the ambiance of an in-ground pool and create the sensation of a tropical oasis. Timing played a crucial role in this endeavor. At the time of our swim spa purchase, we were already amidst a major deck and landscape remodeling project. This proved to be a stroke of luck, as we didn't need to disturb any existing landscaping. Everything was seamlessly integrated into the ongoing project.

To install the swim spa in our chosen space, a boom truck was employed. This method facilitated the careful transfer of the spa from the delivery truck to its final destination. The outcome surpassed even our wildest dreams, leaving us with an outdoor haven that has become the envy of our friends and neighbors.

Q4: What Swim Spa Accessories Did You Choose to Add-On?

First and foremost, we opted for a Covana cover, we found it to be a practical choice for protecting and securing our swim spa. We chose to add Aqua bars on the end near the swim spa jets, we thought they would be helpful and allow us to have more exercise options available. For added comfort, safety and convenience, we included Matrax, choosing a package that covered both the steps and the bottom of the swim spa. This not only provided traction but also added a comfortable and cushioned surface. Given our in-ground swim spa installation, the need for additional steps was unnecessary.

Q5: How Do You Use Your Swim Spa?

We make the most of our swim spa, using it 4-5 times weekly, with each session lasting about an hour. Mornings are when we mainly swim, and it's also a hit with our grandkids when they visit. Since getting our swim spa, we've gone from intermediate-plus swimmers to considerably better. Regarding the Matrax, they've worn down over time, but it hasn't affected our enjoyment. For our swim sessions, we typically select pre-programmed workouts from the control panel for convenience and variety.

Q6: Is There Anything Else You Would Like to Add That Would Be Helpful For Future Purchasers?

Absolutely, I've got some practical advice. Two of my co-workers were so impressed with our swim spa that they bought their own. However, they faced a challenge with the cover—it's not easy to handle alone. My recommendation: spend a bit more on a user-friendly cover for convenience. Also, don't hesitate to use your swim spa year-round, even in snowy weather. It's a versatile addition to your home that's worth enjoying in all seasons.
