Local company, PDC Spas, manufacturing spas and hot tubs in Williamsport, PA for nearly 50 years, was chosen by ABC Network Television to supply a hot tub to a deserving family for their "Extreme Makeover Home Edition" show. PDC Spas teamed with a local retailer to build, deliver and install the spa within the specified one week of destruction and re-construction of the home, which has helped to make this show so popular. PDC had two days' notice to construct and deliver the product to meet the strict time demands of ABC.

The Arena family of Purdys, New York was chosen to receive an "extreme home makeover" for their popular show, which airs by the same name. Young Jimmy Arena, diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor at age five, touched many hearts in his brief lifetime and changed an entire community forever. Jimboy, as his family calls him, stayed strong during his illness and inspired hundreds of neighbors, community members, area fire departments and his family with a contagious smile and spirit. Sadly for all, Jimmy passed away on September 28th 2005, shortly after his sixth birthday.

Local firemen joined together to produce a video highlighting the Arena's special gifts and their family's needs. They sent it to ABC's Extreme Makeover Home Edition and their story was embraced. On Wednesday, April 19, ABC surprised the Arena family with the good news, and on April 26-one week later-their new home was revealed.

Volunteer firefighters from Yorktown Heights, Somers, Goldens Bridge, Bedford Hills, Mahopac and Croton Falls all contributed time and skill to the project. In addition to carrying the spa across the backyard to the installation site, these firemen joined a community of sympathetic friends, neighbors, and local businesses to make it happen for a deserving family-a primary mission for the producers at ABC and everyone involved.

The PDC Spas' local retailer reported, "I want you to know that the spa gift that PDC provided was first and foremost a true act of kindness and you and your teams are to be acknowledged for that. I think in our world these days, we often lose sight of offering true random acts of kindness with no strings attached.....and how that impacts people and families in such a positive way."
